Osun APC alleges deployment of fake security personnel ahead of election

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over alleged plans by the state government to deploy thugs posing as security personnel ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The allegation was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Osun State APC Governorship Campaign Council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye.

The campaign council alleged that some individuals were being accommodated and prepared for deployment while masquerading as personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army.

The APC described the development as a serious threat to the peaceful conduct and credibility of the August 15 election and called on security and intelligence agencies to investigate the allegations.

“The campaign council considers this development extremely disturbing and a serious threat to the credibility, peaceful conduct and integrity of the forthcoming election,” the statement read.

The party alleged that some of the suspected fake security personnel were being accommodated at Palmcrest Hotel in Owode-Ede, Blue and White Hotel in Oke-Onitea, Osogbo, and within the Adeleke University campus in Ede.

It urged the police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army and other relevant agencies to conduct thorough checks of the locations and verify the identities of anyone wearing security uniforms ahead of the election.

The APC also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or individuals suspected of impersonating security personnel to the appropriate authorities.
