Osun APC alleges PDP plot to burn down party secretariats

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised alarms over alleged plans by hoodlums loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to instigate violence and burn down the state party secretariat of the APC and the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Secretariat in Osogbo. The APC claims that these acts are being planned under the guise of the ongoing national protests.

Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the State Chairman of the APC, issued a statement through the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi. He claimed to have received privileged information about a plot by PDP supporters to replicate the recent violence seen in Kano State.

Lawal called on the state Police Command and other security agencies to be proactive in addressing the alleged scheme, which he claims is being orchestrated by the state’s Chief Executive Officer to disrupt the existing peace in Osun by targeting opposition properties.

Lawal accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of being the promoter, financier, and mastermind behind the protests against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

“We have dependable intelligence that Governor Adeleke has been arming his men during the protests under the pretext of embarrassing President Tinubu,” Lawal said. “There is credible intelligence linking the governor with the sponsorship of the rampage in Osun State, as some of his appointees and PDP chieftains were visibly captured playing leading roles in the protests in Osogbo on Thursday and Friday.”

Lawal questioned the motives behind the protests, suggesting that they were designed to discredit President Tinubu. “If the protest was not sponsored and designed to discredit President Tinubu, why did some of the demonstrators go berserk and attack innocent citizens when placards criticizing Governor Adeleke’s administration were displayed during the procession?”

He further criticized the protesters for silencing citizens who expressed their dissatisfaction with the current administration in Osun State. “Why should the professed agitators muffle the voices of citizens expressing their disenchantment over the problematic and ineffective administration in the state, which has failed to use the substantial revenue received in almost two years to bring the dividends of democracy to them?”

Lawal asserted that the protests were a political ploy to shield the failures of the Osun State government. “Is this not clear evidence that the alleged protesters are mere mercenaries procured to play dirty politics and shield the significant failure of the government in Osun State?”

The APC leader urged the police to act swiftly to protect the lives and property of citizens from what he described as “PDP janjaweed” who aim to turn the state into a needless theatre of war to tarnish the name of President Tinubu.
