Osun APC alleges PDP thugs killed members, calls for action after Appeal Court verdict

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has condemned the killings and violence allegedly perpetrated by hoodlums linked to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) following the recent Appeal Court ruling.

The APC claims that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s government is responsible for orchestrating violence across the state after refusing to obey the court’s decision to reinstate sacked APC elected council chairmen and councillors.

At a press conference held on Monday at the Ilerioluwa Campaign Office in Osogbo, APC Chairman Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, along with other key party figures, including Remi Omowaiye, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, and Alhaji Jamiu Olawumi, expressed outrage over the alleged killings of their members, including Irewole Local Government Chairman Hon. Remi Abass, who was reportedly murdered by gunmen.

Omowaiye shared disturbing details of the situation, alleging that many APC members were missing and had been attacked or killed by PDP thugs.

He claimed that he was personally targeted by PDP thugs led by PDP House of Assembly member Olawale Akerele, who was identified as one of the attackers.

“They are killing our people. A lot of our people are missing as of this moment,” Omowaiye said, describing a shooting incident involving his team. He also accused members of the Amotekun Corps of colluding with the PDP to carry out these attacks, urging the Inspector General of Police to ban the security agency in the state.

Olawumi, the former Special Adviser on Education, criticized Governor Adeleke for allowing what he called barbaric acts of violence, accusing the state government of failing to protect citizens.

He called for immediate intervention from President Bola Tinubu, the Inspector General of Police, and the Attorney General of the Federation to address the situation and restore order in the state.

“This is a direct assault on the lives and properties of Osun citizens,” Olawumi stated. “We urge the federal government to intervene as the state government continues to fail in its duty to uphold the law and protect its people.”

Prince Adebayo Adeleke, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also condemned the alleged violence, calling it “uncivilized, barbaric, and cruel.” He vowed that APC council chairmen and councillors would continue to report to their offices despite the violence.

“We will not allow them to intimidate us. We are resolute and determined to ensure the full implementation of the Appeal Court’s judgment,” he stated.

The APC has called for the arrest of those responsible for the killings and violence, urging a thorough investigation into the actions of the PDP and their supporters.

The party warned that they would not be intimidated and vowed to continue to pursue justice for their members.
