Osun APC chieftain labels alleged assassination plot as baseless, treasonable

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Jamiu Olawumi, has dismissed allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of a purported plot to assassinate Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Olawumi described the claim made by PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, as “fake” and “quite funny.” He stated that accusing someone of planning to assassinate a governor is a treasonable offense with serious consequences.
He questioned Bisi’s motives, suggesting that he might be trying to escalate tensions or “crying wolf where there is none.”
Olawumi said, “How could a team from the Inspector General of Police come to a state and attempt to assassinate a governor? Such a claim is baseless.”
He added, “I know the legal department of the Nigeria Police understands that a governor has immunity. However, Sunday Bisi does not have such immunity, and he should be invited to defend his claim.”
