Osun APC slams Adeleke for ‘deceiving’ traditional rulers on reinstated council chiefs

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of misleading traditional rulers in the state regarding the reinstatement of local government chairmen and councillors.
In a statement signed on Thursday by its Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, the APC alleged that the governor fed traditional rulers with falsehoods to gain sympathy for himself and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Olabisi said, “We expected that the governor, whose administration has been characterized by ceaseless lies, would have something new to tell the highly revered royal fathers regarding the Court of Appeal’s ruling on the reinstated local government chairmen and councillors. However, the meeting turned out to be a monumental disappointment.”
He added, “It is a fundamental principle of law that a lower court does not have the power to challenge or overturn the decision of a superior court. The Court of Appeal ruled on this matter on February 10, 2025, and any appeal against the judgment should be taken to the Supreme Court.”
The APC challenged Governor Adeleke and his supporters to approach the Supreme Court if they believe they have a valid case, rather than seeking favorable rulings from obscure high courts in the state. “The governor has the option to challenge the Court of Appeal’s judgment at the Supreme Court, not in a lower court. Why is he afraid of the Supreme Court?” Olabisi asked.
He urged the governor to refrain from involving traditional rulers in political disputes, especially when his executive orders at the start of his administration had already subjected some of them to public ridicule.
Olabisi also called on Adeleke to disclose the location of the local government election he claimed to have conducted, asserting that no such election took place on the day he mentioned to the traditional rulers.
The APC advised the governor to stop wasting time on frivolous matters and learn to co-govern with the reinstated APC chairmen and councillors without obstruction.
