Osun APC slams lawmaker over comments on Tinubu, Oyebamiji, Oke

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Salam, describing him as a frustrated politician over his alleged recent comments on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and the Director-General of its campaign committee, Hon. Wole Oke.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the APC faulted Salam’s remarks made during a television appearance on Wednesday.
The party dismissed comparisons allegedly made by Salam between President Tinubu and Governor Ademola Adeleke, insisting that the difference between them is like comparing the sky and the ground.
Olabisi further described Salam’s comments against Oyebamiji as uncharitable, particularly his claim that the APC candidate is a weak politician who may not win his constituency in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
“We know where Salam is coming from and we are not surprised that he could make such an unsubstantiated and utterly reckless statement about our governorship candidate who has distinguished himself as a huge and exemplary success in both his private and public life, as against his preferred governorship candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is a perpetual satellite human being in his over six decades in his journey of life,” he said.
The party also linked Salam’s criticism to what it described as the fear of the imminent loss of the forthcoming governorship election by his preferred candidate, which it said would dictate the direction of his own bid for re-election.
On the appointment of Oke as Director-General of the APC governorship campaign committee, the party said the development has created fears of an imminent electoral loss for the Accord Party and its candidate.
While reacting to the furore by the Accord Party over the transfer of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State to Ondo State, Olabisi said there were underlying issues being discussed in public spaces, including an alleged exchange of N500 million as gratification for an illegal electoral mission.
