Osun at 35: Oyebamiji urges residents to revive founding fathers’ vision
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Oyebamiji, has called on residents to rekindle the dreams and aspirations of the state’s founding fathers as Osun marks its 35th anniversary.
Oyebamiji made the call in a message commemorating the anniversary, describing the occasion as an opportunity for sober reflection on the realities confronting the state and its future.
He recalled that 35 years ago, the people of Osun stood united in their quest for an identity that would preserve their history, heritage and aspirations.
Oyebamiji urged residents to remain proud of the state’s heritage, resilience, enterprise and ingenuity, while stressing the need to renew their commitment to its development.
“However, the realities confronting our state today demand sober reflection on the need to rekindle and pursue the dreams and aspirations of the founding fathers, whose selfless sacrifices and unwavering commitment made the creation of Osun State possible,” he said.
He also called on the people to pray for continued peace, growth, progress and development across the state.
Oyebamiji said Osun was at a defining moment when collective commitment to its advancement must not be sacrificed for self-interest, mediocrity, malfeasance or incompetence in the management of public resources.
He urged residents to work together towards sustainable socio-economic development, inclusive prosperity and genuine transformation, saying, “We owe it to the generations before us, those of today and those yet unborn to build an Osun that fulfils the promise for which our state was created.”
