Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has issued a stern warning to the warring communities of Ifon and Ilobu, threatening to take decisive action on the buffer zone between them if the ongoing hostilities do not cease immediately.
The governor’s warning comes amid a renewed outbreak of violence between the two communities, which has left several people injured and properties destroyed. Despite previous peace efforts, the crisis has persisted.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke directed the joint security task force to intervene and halt the clashes. He also urged the peace committee to revive the peace agreement and enforce its terms.
Decrying the politicization of the conflict, the governor instructed security agencies to identify and apprehend the ringleaders, ensuring they face the full wrath of the law.
Adeleke lamented the repeated breaches of peace agreements and called on community leaders to ensure an immediate cessation of hostilities to safeguard lives and property.
The statement further noted that the governor is actively engaging with security agencies and political stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the crisis.
He reassured residents that his administration remains committed to maintaining peace and stability across the state.
The governor also appealed to both communities to embrace dialogue and cooperation, warning that any further violence would be met with strict government action.
