Osun Govt dismisses reports of service shutdown in health, education sectors

The Osun State Government has dismissed claims circulating on some media platforms alleging the shutdown of health, education, and social services across the state’s 30 local government areas.
In a statement signed by the spokesperson to Governor Ademola Adeleke, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the government urged the public to disregard the reports, affirming that schools and health centers remain fully operational with high community patronage.
Rasheed noted that Governor Adeleke recently visited several health centers and witnessed successful childbirths at Telemu and Ido Osun, further proving that essential services continue to function effectively.
The statement reads in part: “Contrary to the false claims by the opposition, local government administration in Osun remains active. Even the illegal Yes/No council chairmen, who visited schools and health centers and shared their visits on social media, inadvertently confirmed that these services are still running.
“If these services were indeed shut down, how were they able to visit and find them operational?”
Rasheed also clarified that essential social documentation services, such as state-of-origin and local government identification, have been digitized since 2023, making them accessible online.
The government urged residents to ignore what it described as “falsehood spread by political detractors and discredited media agents,” reaffirming Governor Adeleke’s commitment to good governance, service delivery, and adherence to the rule of law.
