Osun Govt, foundation flag-off free eye surgery

Osun State Government in collaboration with Amen Health Care and Empowerment Foundation, has flagged off free surgery for the residents of Ayedade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency in the State.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary HealthCare, Dr. Michael Oyerinde, at flag-off ceremony which took place at the State Specialist Hospital, Ikire.
At the program tagged, “Ending neglected tropical diseases”, the Governor, who commended the free surgery programme organized by the Foundation, said one of the five cardinal objetives of his Government is to ensure quality health care delivery for people at the grassroot.
He maintained that Government cannot do it alone hence, the readiness of the State Government to partner with other implementing partners like AMEN in order to provide quality Health Care Delivery for Residents of the State.
Oyerinde led the team to the Palace of Akire of Ikireland, Oba Akintunde Falabi on a courtesy visit to the Monarch, who described the programme as a unique one which would go a long way in assisting those suffering from Hydrocele but do not have the financial capaciy to undergo Surgery.
Oba Falabi appreciated the good gesture from the State government and Amen Health Care and Empowerment Foundation for supporting humanity and with this kind gesture, assuring that the State will soon be free from Tropical Diseases.
In his remarks the State Coordinator, Amen Healthcare and Empowerment Foundation, Mr Emmanuel Mariere, stated that the hydrocele surgery is part of morbidity management and disability prevention program of the neglected tropical diseases unit of the Osun State Ministry of Health.
He stressed further that cases gathered from the just concluded Eye-care outreaches in five Local Government Areas of the State show that many people are suffering from neglected tropical diseases in the society.
