Osun Gov’t mandates documentation for tricycle operators to ensure safety

The Osun State Government has announced that tricycle operators must possess all necessary documentation for their vehicles as part of an initiative to enhance safety and security for residents.
The Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Transportation, Hon. Yakubu Adejare, emphasized in a statement the importance of obtaining the appropriate documents, including hackney permits, roadworthiness certificates, and vehicle licenses.
Adejare explained that the decision became necessary due to growing concerns about the increasing use of tricycles by criminal elements, posing a significant threat to unsuspecting residents.
He warned tricycle operators that failure to comply with the new regulations would be considered a traffic offense, with violators subject to penalties.
The statement reads in part: “We have recently discovered that many tricycle operators in Osun State are on the roads without the necessary documents. This will henceforth be regarded as a traffic offense.
“All tricycle operators must ensure they obtain the necessary documents before they hit the road. Officers of OTRAM and the VIO will soon begin stop-and-search operations.
“Tricycles are being used to perpetrate evil by men of the underworld. Any operator who refuses to obtain the necessary particulars will henceforth be regarded as an agent of evil.”
