Osun Gov’t mourns customs officer, family lost in house fire

The Osun State Government has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Customs Officer Kabiru Tijani, his wife, and three of their children in a house fire at their residence in Ede, Osun State.
The fire, whose cause remains unknown, broke out at the late Tijani’s home, claiming the lives of the officer, his wife, and three of their children. A 13-year-old child survived the incident.
In a condolence message to the family and the Nigeria Customs Service, Governor Ademola Adeleke described the incident as heartbreaking. The message, issued through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, conveyed the government’s heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
Governor Adeleke urged residents of the state to remain vigilant during the dry season and to avoid practices that could lead to fires. He emphasized the need for proper management of electrical appliances and flammable materials to prevent similar tragedies.
He also called on emergency response agencies, including O’Ambulance, to strengthen rescue operations across the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
The governor said:
“I am distraught to hear about the terrible fire incident that resulted in the death of SC Kabiru Tijani, his wife, and three children at their residence in Ede, Osun State. This is deeply painful, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and the Nigeria Customs Service.
“I pray that God Almighty grants their souls eternal rest and gives their loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
