Osun guber 2026: Alabi team protests disqualification, warns against biased screening
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The Osun Àjọṣe Campaign Team has rejected the disqualification of its principal, Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, by the Osun Governorship 2026 Screening Committee, describing the announcement as shocking, embarrassing, and a troubling display of selective justice.
Alabi is a former deputy governor of the state under the Gboyega Oyetola administration.
In a statement sighted by our correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday, the campaign team emphasised that it complied fully with all requirements set by the committee, stressing that every guideline was followed and all requested documents were duly submitted.
It noted that the decision to disqualify Alabi, despite meeting all conditions, raises serious concerns about the integrity and fairness of the process.
According to the team, it submitted the names of the five required members and provided detailed financial reports covering all 30 local government areas as mandated, stating that “given this level of compliance, the disqualification remains inexplicable and suggests a possible attempt to serve the interests of a select few rather than the collective good of our great party.”
The campaign organisation therefore called on the Screening Committee to revisit its decision with fairness, transparency, and impartiality, insisting that the party’s interest must outweigh any personal or factional agenda.
It listed its demands to include the immediate reconsideration of Alabi’s disqualification, full transparency and clarity in the screening process, and equal and fair treatment for all aspirants.
The campaign team also urged all stakeholders to rise to the occasion and ensure justice, equity, and due process in all party activities and engagements.
