Osun LG crisis: ‘Adeleke not responsible for your legal woes’ – Govt to APC

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo

The Osun State Government has urged the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to focus on its legal challenges and stop blaming Governor Ademola Adeleke for its “self-imposed moral, legal, and political injuries.”

Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to Governor Adeleke, made the remarks in response to APC’s accusations that the Adeleke-led government plans to procure a “kangaroo judgment” to oust its chairmen and councillors, and incite violence in Local Governments across the state.

Rasheed dismissed the APC’s allegations as a “false alarm,” claiming the party was trying to avoid the legal consequences of its unlawful occupation of Local Government secretariats.

He stated that Governor Adeleke had not filed any court actions and instead urged PDP-elected chairmen and councillors to follow the rule of law and avoid violence.

“The State APC is lying about an open secret — it faces three lawsuits over its invasion of the Local Government secretariats. The first is from the duly elected Local Government chairmen and councillors of the PDP under ALGON, the second is from the state Local Government workers under NULGE, and the third is from the All Peoples Party (APP), which sued the APC for contempt of court for ignoring a valid court judgment that dismissed its ‘Yes/No’ chairmen.”

“The APC’s claim of a plot to use violence against the court-sacked ‘Yes/No’ chairmen is pure fantasy — a failed attempt to escape the legal consequences of their unconstitutional occupation of Local Government secretariats across Osun State,” Rasheed added.

He further explained that the validly elected council chairmen, vice chairmen, and councillors had filed significant lawsuits to remove the “Yes/No” council chairmen, who were operating outside the law.

“The workers’ union at the local government level, NULGE, as an interested stakeholder, has also turned to the judicial system,” Rasheed concluded.
