The Association of Concerned Local Government Workers in Osun State has declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15, 2026 election.
Speaking during the May Day celebration, the coordinator of the group, Comrade Tirimisiyu Adedayo Adekunle, said they consider Oyebamiji a worthy leader to follow and vote for on August 15.
Adekunle said, “We therefore direct all our members to give him all the necessary support to ensure his emergence at the poll.”
The association also called for an end to casualisation in all government establishments, describing it as exploitative and discouraging to qualified professionals.
Adekunle emphasised the need for safe workplaces, respect for labour unions, and greater investment in workers’ training to enhance productivity.
He said, “We are now partners in delivering social goods, deciding who to vote for and be voted for, and even development to the citizens. We advise you to listen more and act faster to the demands of workers, as the era of regarding workers as servants has gone for good.”
Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. Abiodun Idowu, commended local government workers for their resilience, patience, and dedication, noting that their contributions continue to sustain governance at the grassroots.
Idowu also assured workers that their welfare remains a top priority, pledging commitment to prompt payment of salaries and entitlements, improved working conditions, and continuous capacity building to enhance effective service delivery across local governments in the state.
