Osun NSCDC arrests 40-yr-old man for impersonation, fraud

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Osun State command has arrested a 40-year old Awolumate Bola for impersonation and obtaining money under false pretense.

Corps Commandant in the state, Sunday Agboola, in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Olabisi Atanda said the suspect was arrested on the 25th July, 2022 at Oke Abesu, Osogbo.

According to Agboola, four members of the public lodged complaint about the accused to the command.

He said the suspect volunteered a confessional statement confirming his culpability in the offences. 

“The Suspect, Awolumate Bola confessed to impersonating as a Nigerian Immigration Officer under the pretext of which he collected the sum of N570,000 from the four complainants with a promise to secure visa to Norway and Saudi Arabia. He also promised to secure employment for one of the complainants,” he said.

The NSCDC commandant added that, the suspect after thorough investigation, would  be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction where justice would be meted to serve as deterrent to other syndicates.
