Osun: Pardoned ex-convict Lands in court for stealing plasma TV

An ex-convict pardoned by Governor Ademola Adeleke, Adebayo Omisakin Sunday, has been re-arrested and arraigned for allegedly stealing a plasma TV in Osun State.

Sunday, whose name appeared as number 8 on the governor’s pardon list, was arraigned before an Osun State Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a plasma television valued at ₦600,000.

The offence was reportedly committed in Osogbo on January 3, 2025, just 10 days after he received the pardon.

The charge sheet stated:
“That you, Adebayo Omisakin Sunday ‘m,’ on the 3rd day of January 2025 at about 12:00 pm at Al-Medinat Area, Iludun in the Osogbo Magisterial District, did break and enter the house of one Shittu Damilare ‘m’ and steal one plasma TV valued at the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (₦600,000:00k) only.

“That you, Adebayo Omisakin Sunday ‘m,’ on the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District, did steal one plasma TV valued at the sum of Six Hundred Thousand Naira (₦600,000:00k), property of one Shittu Damilare ‘m.’”

The offence was said to contravene Section 411 (1) (2) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, and Section 383, and is punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.

During his first arraignment on January 7, Sunday applied for bail. However, Magistrate A. Adeyeba adjourned the matter to January 10 to rule on the bail application.

The prosecutor, Kayode Adeoye, opposed the bail application. On January 10, Magistrate Adeyeba declined the bail request and ordered the defendant to be remanded at Ilesa Correctional Centre.
