One of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osun State, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has formally resigned from the party.

Ogunbiyi, in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, said that the resignation took effect from 28th March, 2022.

The letter reads thus:

“Please accept this letter as a formal resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from 28th March, 2022.

“Thank you for the interactions and engagements I had within the party over the years of my membership.”

WESTERN POST recalled that Ogunbiyi withdrew from the governorship primary election of the party less than 24 hours to the exercise.

According to him, his decision was in view of the fact that the process leading to the primaries had already been skewed towards a predetermined outcome despite the various presentations made to the National Working Committee (NWC) for a level playing grounds for all the aspirants.
