Twenty-five members of the Osun State House of Assembly, all elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have dismissed rumours of defection and internal crisis within the party, declaring that they remain united, loyal and committed to the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The only remaining lawmaker in the Assembly is a member of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking during a press conference held at the Assembly Complex in Osogbo on Wednesday, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, who addressed journalists on behalf of the PDP lawmakers, stated categorically that the House is not experiencing any division or crisis as speculated in some quarters.

Egbedun said, “There is no division in this House. There is no defection. There is no crisis. The rumours flying around are simply rumours. And we are not in the business of chasing shadows.

“We, the Honourable Members, are men of honour. We are not for sale. We are not moved by noise or pressure. We hold the mandate of our people, and we intend to keep that trust with dignity, loyalty, and a clear conscience.”

The Speaker also reiterated the members confidence in the leadership of the PDP in the state, led by Hon. Sunday Bisi, describing the party as strong, united and focused.

Also speaking at the press briefing, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, who represents Obokun State Constituency, affirmed that lawmakers from the Ijesa axis are fully aligned with the party and the Governor.

In a similar vein, Hon. Fatunmise Olumide, representing Ife East State Constituency, noted that lawmakers from the Ife state constituency remain resolute in their support for Governor Adeleke, citing his performance and commitment to his five-point development agenda.
