The Osun State Police Command has arrested Michael Ojo, a 27-year-old suspected cultist and leader of an armed gang accused of kidnapping and killing two residents of Akungba in Ondo State. He was apprehended in Ilesa on July 11, 2025, while allegedly attempting to sell a stolen black Lexus Jeep with registration number GGE 197 JJ.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, investigations revealed that Ojo led a gang to the residence of Mr. Abah John Friday and Ms. Okah Andrel in Akungba on June 20, 2025. They reportedly stole valuables including the Lexus Jeep and iPhones, and later abducted and murdered the victims.
In a separate operation, police arrested 34-year-old Dotun Olumide in Ikire on July 10 after he fled during a routine vehicle inspection. He was found to have stolen a Toyota Camry, a bed frame, and a mattress from Poget Care Homes Foundation in Badagry, Lagos State, where he had worked as a security guard.

Also in custody is 23-year-old Adeboye Damilare, who allegedly robbed a boutique owner of goods valued at N800,000 on Obalufon Street, Ile-Ife. Damilare reportedly used a locally made pistol and fired a shot at the victim, but missed.
His arrest led to the capture of 28-year-old Taiwo Awoniran in Modakeke, who allegedly sold the firearm to Damilare for N60,000. Police recovered three additional locally made short guns from Awoniran during his arrest.
In another development, detectives recovered a stolen Nokia C32 Android phone and a cut-to-size double-barrel gun from 29-year-old Onah David in Ila-Orangun. The phone was linked to a theft reported on April 25, 2025, by a woman who had left it charging at a friend’s house.
The command stated that all suspects are in custody and will be prosecuted accordingly. It reiterated its commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring public safety.
Residents were urged to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to help combat crime in the state.
