The Osun State Police Command has reiterated its ban on the use of fireworks, crackers, and other low-explosive pyrotechnic devices to ensure peace and security during the festive season.

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Yemisi Opalola, Commissioner of Police Mohammed Umar Abba urged the public to refrain from using such explosives both indoors and outdoors.

He specifically warned residents against selling, buying, or using fireworks, stressing that these devices pose significant risks of injury and property damage.

Abba further explained that fireworks could also create distractions, posing security threats in residential areas, motor parks, places of worship, and recreational centers.

The command also announced that annual street carnivals would not be permitted during the yuletide season. Organizers are instead encouraged to host events in controlled settings, such as halls or gated compounds, to prevent miscreants from exploiting the festivities for criminal activities.

Abba advised parents, guardians, religious leaders, and ward heads to monitor their children and followers, ensuring strict adherence to the regulations.

He warned that violators would face the full force of the law.
