The Osun State Police Command has issued a stern warning to individuals or groups planning to stage unlawful gatherings, stating that it will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the peace in the state.

WESTERN POST reports that the organizers of the #EndBadGovernance protest in Osun suspended the peaceful demonstration on August 6, 2024, in honor of the Osun Osogbo festival.

In a statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, the Command emphasized its awareness of plans by some unscrupulous elements attempting to disrupt the peace in the state.

The statement reads: “The Osun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that it is aware of the activities of some unscrupulous elements who are attempting to disrupt the peace in the state.

“These individuals are unhappy with the peaceful protest (#EndBadGovernance) carried out by the Coalition of Civil Organizations, Osun State Chapter, which was suspended on August 6, 2024, in honor of the Osun Osogbo Festival.

“The Command assures the public that it will not tolerate any attempt to jeopardize the peace and security of the state. The Command will not fold its arms and allow mischief makers to truncate the peaceful atmosphere of the state.

“The public is hereby advised to remain calm and go about their lawful activities, and report any unlawful gathering in any part of the state.”
