Osun set to wage war against open defecation, announces monthly environmental sanitation in 2024

As part of its renewed efforts to rid the state of dirts and indiscriminate dumping of refuse, Osun State Government has read a riot act on the readiness to arrest and prosecute anyone found culpable in this regard.
As a step towards achieving these objectives among others to be later unfolded, the State Government has announced its resolve to reintroduce the monthly environmental sanitation excercise, effective from 2024.
Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Hon Mayowa Adejoorin, made these disclosures while featuring on a current affairs radio programme in Osogbo.
Adejoorin said the the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has continued to prioritize cleanliness and promotion of personal hygienes of the people of the State .
He therefore called on the people to continue to support the move of the State Government to rid it of indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
The Commissioner further urged residents to continue to patronise the over 300 private waste disposal operators engaged by the State Government for effective management of their refuses and wastes.
While condemning open defecation across the state, Adejoorin warned that anybody found culpable of doing it in the public will be dealt with in line with the the dictates of the law
He stated that environmental sanitation officers will be going round to ensure that the citizens comply with the Government’s directive.
