Osun State Gov’t approves N75,000 minimum wage

The Osun State Government has approved a new minimum wage of N75,000 for civil servants, signaling a significant commitment to workers’ welfare and economic growth in the state.
The announcement was made by the State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, in a statement released on Wednesday in Osogbo.
According to Alimi, the approval followed the submission of the Public Service Negotiation Committee’s report, which outlined a framework for implementing the new wage.
The committee, composed of representatives from the state government and labor unions, worked meticulously to develop a sustainable and equitable wage structure.
The state’s negotiation team was led by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Kazeem Akinleye, while the labor delegation was headed by the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo.
The new wage, Alimi stated, is expected to promote social justice, foster economic growth, and improve living standards for both civil servants and the wider Osun populace.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, after approving the new wage, urged civil servants to adopt innovative approaches to enhance public service delivery, which he described as crucial to the state’s progress and development.
Chief of Staff Hon. Kazeem Akinleye commended Governor Adeleke for prioritizing the welfare of workers, highlighting the administration’s dedication to inclusive growth. Similarly, the Head of Service, Mr. Ayanleye Aina, expressed confidence in the ability of Osun workers to rise to the occasion and continue delivering quality services.
State NLC Chairman, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, praised the Adeleke administration for crafting a wage structure that aligns with the current economic realities of the state.
He expressed optimism about the sustainability of the new minimum wage and its positive impact on civil servants’ financial stability.
Arapasopo also pledged the unwavering support of the workforce for the Adeleke administration, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring the government succeeds in its mission to improve the lives of Osun residents.
