Over 70 people killed by terrorists in Plateau on Christmas Eve

Several communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State were attacked by terrorists on Saturday, resulting in the death of more than 76 people.
The chairman of the Transition Implementation Committee of Bokkos Local Government Area, Monday Kasa, told Channels Television that the attacks lasted until Sunday, when people were celebrating Christmas.
He said that the number of casualties was rising as more bodies were being found by the security forces, local vigilantes and hunters who were searching the area for missing persons who were ambushed by the terrorists.
He also said that many houses were burnt and looted by the terrorists, who destroyed properties and farm produce.
The governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, condemned the attacks and called for immediate action and community vigilance.
In a statement signed by his press secretary, Gyang Bere, the governor ordered the security agencies to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of the heinous acts.
The police and the joint security task force Operation Safe Haven have not commented on the attacks yet, as the rescue operations are still ongoing in the affected communities.
