Over 800 PDP members defect to APC in Oyo
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has lost over 800 of its members to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North Local Government Area of the State.
The former members of the PDP were received by the State acting Chairman of the APC, Moshood Abass, who expressed confidence in the party’s ability to return to power in the State by 2027.
Addressing the PDP members shortly after their defection to the APC, Abass said given the calibre of the new entrants to the main opposition Party in Oyo State, the APC is hopeful of clinching the forthcoming by-election to fill the vacant Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat.
Some APC leaders said that they hope to attract more members from the ruling PDP in the State in the coming months and years, in the build up to the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
