The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba (Dr.) Adekunle Aromolaran Adesuyi Haastrup Ajimoko III, has inaugurated a seven-member committee to investigate allegations of misconduct among some of his chiefs, including issues of land grabbing and boundary disputes.

The committee, chaired by the Salotun of Ilesa, Chief Disu Oyedele, has been tasked with probing public complaints against certain traditional leaders, resolving controversies surrounding some chieftaincy titles, and addressing ongoing boundary conflicts with neighboring towns and villages.

Other members of the panel include the Likoti of Ikoti, Chief Fatoye Olaniyi, who serves as secretary; the Loro of Ilesa; High Chief Olalekan Folorunso; the Ogboni of Ilesa, High Chief Saka Fapounda; the Agbadae of Igbadae, Oba Olaosebikan; Chief Lawrence Balogun; and the Risa of Ijamo, Chief Oladayo Oginni.

While inaugurating the committee, Oba Haastrup emphasized the importance of fairness, transparency, and the fear of God in the committee’s work. He urged members to approach their responsibilities with sincerity and a commitment to justice.

The Owa called on residents to forward their petitions and complaints to the committee through its secretary, Chief Olaniyi, to ensure swift and unbiased deliberation on all matters brought before it.

Meanwhile, Oba Haastrup reaffirmed his stance against cultism and criminal activity in Ijesaland, warning that such behavior would not be tolerated under his leadership.

He also pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to maintain peace and security in the region.

The monarch commended the Ilesa Area Commander of Police for his role in keeping the area calm, especially on July 7, a date previously marred by fear due to cultist activities.
