‎Oyebamiji commends Osun NUJ, stresses role of media in nation-building

‎The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, has lauded the pivotal role of journalists in societal development, declaring that no nation can progress without a vibrant media.

‎Speaking at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council’s yearly health walk, one of the activities marking the 2025 NUJ Press Week, Oyebamiji, represented by Comrade Ayantunji Kehinde, described journalists as the light of society who deserve honour.

‎According to him, “Journalism is a noble profession because journalists are the light of society, and they deserve our support. There is no society that develops without journalism, and that is why we identify with the Osun State NUJ today to participate in this health walk.”

‎Oyebamiji, who is also a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged media practitioners to prioritize their health, stating that journalism is a creative profession requiring sound health to deliver quality work.

‎Also speaking, a former lawmaker in the state, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, described the media as a rallying point in society, shaping communities and directing situations. He appealed to journalists to remain unbiased, balanced, and continue educating the public.

‎The State Coordinator for Moniepoint in Osun State, Olufemi Olaniyan, emphasized the importance of staying healthy, stating that good health is essential for enjoying the fruits of one’s labour.

‎He noted that Moniepoint has partnered with the NUJ in the health walk for over three years, encouraging business owners and staff to prioritize exercise and healthcare.

‎Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Osun State Council, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu, commended members for participating in the annual health walk, noting that the event aims to promote physical exercise and improve members’ health and well-being.
