The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has mourned the passing of the Akire of Ikireland, Oba Olatunde Falabi, Lambeloye III, describing his death as the end of an era.

The monarch reportedly died at the weekend after a brief illness.

In a personally signed statement, Oyebamiji said he received the news with shock, noting that the late monarch was not just a traditional ruler but a symbol of peace, unity and cohesion.

He said his death was a colossal loss not only to Ikireland and its environs but to the Osun State Council of Obas and Nigeria in general.

He described the late Oba Falabi as a unifier on all fronts and an epitome of royalty, integrity, character, discipline and dignity, a known disciplinarian who served his Creator and humanity diligently.

The APC candidate said, “As the custodian of our culture, tradition, norms and heritage, Oba Falabi’s outstanding performance and transformative achievements in his over three decades’ reign cannot be overemphasized. It is on record that Kabiyesi’s reign witnessed geometric development in Ikireland and its environs, as his indelible imprints continue to live on.”

Oyebamiji condoled the deceased’s immediate family, Ikire Traditional Council, Ikire sons and daughters, and the entire Irewole royal family on the passage of the revered traditional ruler.

“On behalf of my family, I condole with the immediate family, sons and daughters of Ikire, the entire Ikire royal family, Ikire Traditional Council, residents of the ancient town and members of the Osun State Council of Obas on the demise of our father, the Akire of Ikireland, and I pray that God Almighty will console and grant every member of the immediate family the fortitude and strength to bear the irreplaceable loss,” Oyebamiji said.
