Oyebamiji hails Osun faithful preaches love, sacrifice during Lent, Ramadan
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has extended warm felicitations to Muslims and Christians in the state and beyond on the commencement of this year’s Lenten and Ramadan fasting periods.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Wednesday, Oyebamiji called for renewed devotion and commitment to the teachings of the holy month, describing the season as a time for spiritual rebirth and reflection.
He urged the Muslim Ummah and Christians to tap into the boundless divine blessings embedded in the fasting period and to continue extending hands of fellowship to one another while abstaining from acts forbidden by God.
According to him, the period calls for genuine introspection, rededication to the will and commandments of Almighty God, and increased efforts in good deeds that strengthen faith and community bonds.
He emphasised the need to promote peace, love, unity, stability and cohesion, noting that both Islam and Christianity preach compassion and harmonious coexistence.
Oyebamiji also encouraged believers to champion virtues such as selflessness, discipline, faithfulness, sacrifice, patience and tolerance, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad and Jesus Christ.
“As we begin this divine journey into the holy month, I pray that Almighty God continues to imbue us with more wisdom, knowledge and understanding to serve Him better as desired. May we witness many more holy months on earth,” Oyebamiji prayed.
