Oyebamiji meets Tinubu, urges Adeleke to caution supporters against violence

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to caution his supporters against violence following the state’s recent governorship election.
Oyebamiji made the call on Friday while briefing State House correspondents after meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
“I want to advise the governor that it’s important for him to talk to his people. Violence against our people is not too good, and he needs to talk to them so that every one of eachhe same page,” he said.
He appealed to political actors and residents of Osun to remain peaceful, stressing that governance should be centred on the people.
“The most important thing is to run every election with a peaceful mind. It is important for us that we Nigerians have to know that government is about people,” Oyebamiji said.
He said the APC was still reviewing the election outcome and would announce its position after examining the results and relevant documents.
“For now, the APC is still examining the books, and by the time we spread our sheets, we’ll be able to get back to the public on what our own opinions are and what decisions we want to take,” he said.
Oyebamiji also alleged that some APC members had been attacked following the declaration of the election results.
His visit to the Presidential Villa came a day after Adeleke, who was declared winner of the governorship election, met with Tinubu and presented his Certificate of Return to the President.
During the meeting, Tinubu urged Adeleke to reconcile with his opponents and use his position as governor to promote unity and stability in the state.
