The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2026 Osun State governorship election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged an academic scholarship from primary school to university for the seven-month-old child of a party loyalist who died in the recent trailer accident during an APC event in Ede.
Oyebamiji also announced that he would facilitate permanent employment for the deceased’s wife and another member of the family.
A trailer rammed into APC members on June 23 during a peaceful canvassers’ inauguration in Ede North Local Government Area, killing Abdulrazak and leaving several others with varying degrees of injuries.
Speaking during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased, Oyebamiji, who was represented by his wife, Dr Bola Oyebamiji, said the hospital bills of the injured victims had already been settled, adding that the visit was aimed at reassuring the affected families that they were not alone in their grief.
“We had already settled all the hospital bills of the victims, but this visit is about something money can’t cover; it is about showing up and reminding them that they are not bearing this burden alone,” he said.
Oyebamiji and his team visited the victims in their homes across Owode-Ede and Ede to sympathise with their families, offer prayers for them and ask God to grant the deceased’s family the strength to bear the loss.
“To the bereaved family, we expressed our deepest condolences, and to the injured, we wish them a full and speedy recovery,” he added.
