Oyebamiji pledges safer, equitable Osun at Muslim community forum

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the August 15 election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has pledged to make the state safer for residents and businesses while promising fairness and equitable distribution of resources if elected.

Oyebamiji gave the assurance during an interactive session with the Osun State Muslim Community at its secretariat in Osogbo on Sunday. He said the vision of the state’s founding fathers was to build a united society driven by the common good rather than religious divisions.

The APC candidate said he had assembled a team to identify areas requiring urgent intervention, particularly in education, healthcare, power generation, agriculture and workers’ welfare, to drive economic growth across the state.

“My decision to contest for the governorship seat was deliberate and intentional. We have put a team in place to examine key sectors with a view to making immediate interventions, especially in power generation, education, healthcare delivery and agriculture. Unlike the present administration, we will be fair, just and ensure equitable distribution of resources across the state,” he said.

Oyebamiji reaffirmed his commitment to Islam, described himself as a devoted Muslim and expressed confidence of winning the August 15 governorship election. He also pledged to promote peace before, during and after the poll.

President of the Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi, described Oyebamiji as a committed Muslim with longstanding contributions to Islam, the Muslim Ummah and humanity.

Olawuyi said the Muslim community remained non-partisan but urged any incoming government to prioritise equity, justice and the recognition of Islamic law, among other concerns.

He added that the community had presented its requests to the APC candidate and expressed hope that they would receive due consideration if he is elected governor.
