A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has assured residents that developing Osogbo, the state capital, will be his top priority if elected governor in 2026.
Oyebamiji, who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), made the pledge on Saturday, during his consultation visit to Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government Areas. He stated that developing the capital city is non-negotiable if elected governor.
He said Osogbo, known for commerce and industry, deserves special attention as the commercial centre of the state. According to him, his administration would engage in massive infrastructural development to industrialize and commercialize the capital city through genuine investments and pro-masses policies.
“We will prioritize Osogbo in all our project implementations,” he said. “We will not relent until we uplift the bar of governance and advance socioeconomic and infrastructural development on all fronts.”
The APC chieftains who attended the consultation declared their full support for Oyebamiji’s aspiration, describing him as a visionary leader with the capacity to transform the state.
In his remarks, the Executive Director, Marine Operations, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Engr. Olalekan Badmus, said the massive turnout showed that Osogbo is solidly behind Oyebamiji.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Osogbo Local Government Area, Hon. Saheed Onibonokuta, said residents are united in their support for Oyebamiji, praying for God’s guidance and success for his ambition.
Oyebamiji and his AMBO team had earlier visited 26 local government areas across the state to register his intention to contest the 2026 gubernatorial election.
