Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has restated his administration’s commitment to the security and wellbeing of residents, pledging that protecting lives and property remains his government’s top priority.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti on Friday during the inauguration of the newly constructed Armoury and Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Building, the governor, represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, said the projects were designed to boost the operational strength of security agencies in the state.
Oyebanji noted that security is the foundation for growth and development, adding that his administration will continue to invest in infrastructure, logistics and personnel welfare to sustain Ekiti’s reputation as one of the safest states in Nigeria.
“To the residents of Ekiti State, your security and wellbeing are at the centre of every decision we make. We remain committed to listening, learning, and delivering with integrity, urgency, and humility, and these projects reflect our government’s pledge to deliver tangible infrastructure that directly improves the safety and quality of life of equity people,” the governor said.
He commended the dedication and professionalism of security operatives and promised continued government support to enhance their capacity.
He also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to report suspicious movements within their communities.
“The commissioning of these facilities aligns with our administration’s safety and security architecture, which emphasises prevention, preparedness, and the protection of vulnerable communities and people… The Rapid Response Squad is a critical pillar of Ekiti State security strategy,” he added.
Commissioner of Police Joseph Eribo described the new armoury as one of the most sensitive and vital units in defence management, capable of competing with the best nationwide.
He lauded the governor’s support, pledging improved service delivery.
