Oyebanji reinstates information commissioner days after cabinet shake-up

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reinstated Taiwo Olatunbosun as Commissioner for Information, just a week after dissolving the State Executive Council.
The reinstatement was confirmed in a letter dated August 18, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro. According to the letter, Olatunbosun, a former Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, is to “continue to function as Commissioner for Information” with immediate effect.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olayinka Oyebode, announced the development in a statement on Monday, noting that the recall took effect without delay.
The decision comes shortly after Oyebanji dissolved his cabinet on August 11, directing commissioners and special advisers to hand over to permanent secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their ministries, departments, and agencies.
During the dissolution, six commissioners, including those overseeing Finance, Works, and Human Capital Development, were retained to ensure stability in critical sectors.
Governor Oyebanji explained that the cabinet shake-up was designed to inject fresh energy into governance and to further drive his administration’s “shared prosperity” agenda.
