Oyebanji swears in 10 permanent secretaries, says appointments merit-based

By Boye Oyeyemi –

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has sworn in 10 new Permanent Secretaries, with a charge to uphold excellence and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, Oyebanji said the appointments were based strictly on merit, following a transparent and competitive selection process.

He emphasised that his administration would not politicise appointments into critical positions, including the teaching sector.

The governor said, “This administration has consistently upheld a merit-based mechanism in the selection and appointment of key officers in the civil service. Out of the 141 eligible candidates invited for a computer-based test facilitated by UMA Capital Partners, only 28 emerged on the shortlist for the final interviews, from among whom the first 10 were selected, so we still have 18.”

He also warned against political lobbying for appointments, insisting that fairness and transparency would continue to guide all recruitment exercises. “I’m not going to play politics with the appointment of those that will teach our children,” Oyebanji said.

While commending the Head of Service, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi, for overseeing the process diligently, the Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to efficiency, accountability, and innovation in public service.

In her remarks, Olomojobi thanked the governor for prioritising the welfare and professional growth of civil servants, describing him as a leader who exemplifies diligence and fairness.

Those sworn in include S.O. Ibijola, Olaonipekun Eweje, Sunday Omoya, Morakinyo Akilo, Adelusi Lateef, Peter Ejimokun, Olufemi Adediran, Ayoola Clement, Bayode Lawrence, and Toyin Ojelabi-Pedro.
