Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin-Ekiti.

Oyebanji made the remarks on Friday at Iyin-Ekiti during the final burial ceremony of Pa Jeremiah Akindele, held at All Saints Anglican Church. Describing the new university as a landmark achievement, he said it reflects the President’s commitment to advancing education and development in Nigeria.

“I congratulate all Iyin indigenes on the new university. It was a long-fought battle, but we thank God. On behalf of the Ekiti State government, we express our gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this achievement. I also appreciate my brother and friend, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, for his role in making this possible,” Oyebanji said.

Speaking on the late Pa Jeremiah Akindele, the governor described him as a man of purpose and service whose contributions to the community were exemplary. He urged his family to take solace in the impactful life he lived and continue upholding his values.

In his sermon, Venerable Sunday Agunbiade of Babanboni Memorial Anglican Church, Iyin-Ekiti, said the service was a celebration of a life devoted to faith, humility, and service to God and humanity.
