Accord Party in Osun State has expressed dismay at the inability of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to conduct a rancor free primary election in the state and the resultant violence.

The party, in a statement issued by the Akin Ogunbiyi for Governor Media Team said it noted with regret pockets of violence and protests by APC members across the state, particularly the state capital over shoddy arrangements made for the party’s primary election.

The campaign team said that it was disgraceful and unpalatable that the party that claimed to be the family of the progressives cannot organise a democratic election within its fold.

“We as members of Accord declare that the APC is no longer fit to rule Osun State, the so called ‘Ipinle Omoluabi’ and if Governor Adegboyega Oyetola cannot be trusted by his party men with a very minor assignment of presiding over primary election, then he also is no longer qualify to continue to govern this state; a state majorly populated by literates, business moguls, academicians and professionals in all realms of life.

“It is a big mistake to have voted for APC in the first instance, and to have committed the destinies of the people of the state in the hands of a man that lacks vision like Governor Oyetola. A house that divided against itself shall fall,” the party said.

The statement called on Osun people to support and vote overwhelmingly for Accord and Dr. Ogunbiyi in the coming election in the interest of all and sundry.

The party also sympathized with innocent citizens including the reporter of The Nation Newspaper, Mr. Toba Adedeji who was hit by police bullets during a protest in Osogbo on Tuesday.
