Oyetola not involved in any election-rigging plan, says Osun APC
By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has described as false and fabricated the allegation by the Accord Party that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, was plotting with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to rig the August 15, 2026 governorship election in the state.
In a statement issued on Friday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC accused the Accord Party leadership of spreading misinformation to mislead residents ahead of the election.
The APC was reacting to allegations made by the state chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, who claimed that the Osun APC leadership had allegedly resolved to work with the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) to selectively remove members of the Accord Party from the voters’ register.
Akande further alleged that a secret meeting was held at the APC’s Ileri Oluwa campaign office where a three-man committee was reportedly constituted to liaise with INEC officials to carry out the alleged plan. According to the Accord chairman, the purported agenda was to remove a minimum of 75 Accord members and 25 APC members from each polling unit to make the exercise appear random.
However, Olabisi insisted that no such meeting was held and that the minister neither met with any INEC official nor directed anyone to manipulate the electoral process.
He said the allegation was borne out of fear of impending defeat, accusing the Accord Party and Governor Ademola Adeleke of resorting to false claims instead of focusing on campaigns.
The APC urged its members and supporters to disregard what it described as a fabricated election-rigging narrative and continue mobilising support ahead of the governorship poll.
