Over 10,000 vulnerable individuals across Oyo State’s 33 local government areas are set to benefit from a cash transfer program facilitated by the National Cash Transfer Office in Abuja.

Each beneficiary, identified by the National Cash Transfer Office under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, will receive a monthly stipend of ₦25,000 for three months.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Hon. Toyin Balogun, announced this during the flag-off and symbolic presentation of debit cards to the beneficiaries of the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer (NASSP-SU) across the 33 local government areas. The event was held at the Ibadan South-East Local Government Secretariat, Mapo, Ibadan.

In a statement released by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Balogun emphasized that the Federal Government, in collaboration with the Oyo State Government, is committed to providing direct financial support to those in need. This initiative is in response to the current economic challenges affecting the grassroots population.

She noted that the cash transfer program is a key component of the Federal Government’s social intervention agenda, designed to empower families, promote sustainable livelihoods, alleviate poverty, and improve the overall well-being of beneficiaries.

Balogun encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely by investing in areas such as education, healthcare, and small-scale businesses, which can enhance their households’ welfare and create long-lasting impacts.

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibitoye Mofoluwake, described the distribution of debit cards as more than a logistical improvement. She called it a “symbol of hope” and a step towards restoring dignity to vulnerable individuals. Dr. Ibitoye urged beneficiaries to use the resources strategically to achieve lasting benefits for their families and communities.

The Ibadan South-East Local Government Chairman and host of the event, Hon. Oluwole Alawode, expressed gratitude to the government for its efforts in improving the lives of the downtrodden and vulnerable in society.

The funds are being distributed through debit cards, which were presented to the recipients during the ceremony held at the Ibadan South-East Local Government Secretariat.
