Oyo APC group rallies support for Olaosebikan in Oluyole constituency race

A group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Oluyole APC Solidarity (OAPCS), has declared support for a former ally of the late Governor Lam Adesina, Kehinde Olaosebikan, in the race for the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat.

The group made its position known in a statement signed by its chairman, Dr Muftau Ajisefini, and made available to journalists in Ibadan at the weekend.

Ajisefini alleged that the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, had distanced herself from the party structure in the area since assuming office in the House of Representatives.

According to him, the lawmaker rarely participated in party activities and meetings within the local government, claiming she formed her own political group shortly after she was sworn in.

The group also alleged that Akande-Sadipe’s emergence as the party’s candidate in the 2019 election was influenced by the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi, despite her limited participation in party activities before then.

OAPCS further claimed that the lawmaker did not support the leadership choice of the 10th National Assembly, noting that she reportedly voted differently during the emergence of the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas.

“We threw a challenge between her and the strongest aspirant for the Oluyole Federal Constituency seat by asking Google the stronger supporter of the federal government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu between Honourable Akande-Sadipe and Mr Kehinde Olaosebikan. Google answered that Kehinde Olaosebikan seems to be a stronger supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because of his bold pledges and grassroots mobilisation through the PBAT-KO Grassroots Movement,” Ajisefini said.

The group added that Olaosebikan had also pledged to mobilise increased support for President Tinubu in Oluyole Local Government ahead of the 2027 general elections.
