A supplementary appropriation bill totaling ₦270.85 billion for the 2025 fiscal year has passed its first reading at the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The bill aims to address funding gaps in both recurrent and capital expenditures, ensuring the continuation and expansion of essential government programs and services.

Titled “A Bill for the Supplementary Budget of Two Hundred and Seventy Billion, Eight Hundred and Fifty-Four Million, Five Hundred Naira (₦270,854,500,000.00) Being the Recurrent and Capital Expenditure for the Services of Oyo State of Nigeria in the Year Ending on the 31st Day of December, 2025,” the proposal was introduced by the House Majority Leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, representing Ogbomoso South Constituency.

According to the bill, the entire sum is to be drawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund and expended within the current fiscal year, which ends on December 31, 2025.

The supplementary budget is intended to support ongoing programs and accommodate additional spending needs not covered in the original 2025 budget.

A key section of the bill reads: “The sum of Two Hundred and Seventy Billion, Eight Hundred and Fifty-Four Million, Five Hundred Naira (₦270,854,500,000.00) only shall be appropriated from the Consolidated Revenue Fund during the year ending on the 31st day of December, 2025 for the services set out in the 1st Schedule to this Law.”

The proposal reinforces the state government’s commitment to public service delivery, infrastructure development, and socio-economic advancement across critical sectors.

Further deliberations are expected in the coming weeks as the Assembly continues consideration of the bill.
