By Adejayan Gbenga –
The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the immediate reinstatement of the suspended Chairman of Saki East Local Government, Mr. Adedokun Emmanuel Olalekan.
The decision followed the presentation of a report by the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and State Honours, Hon. Akintunde Olajide, during plenary on Tuesday.
Hon. Olajide explained that the committee engaged relevant officers and political stakeholders in response to a petition titled: “Call for Urgent Intervention and Holistic Investigation in the Affairs of Saki East Local Government under the Leadership of Mr. Adedokun Emmanuel Olalekan.”
He said the committee met with the Acting Chairman, Mr. Rasaq Moruf; Leader of the House, Mr. Adebayo Wahab; Head of Local Government Administration, Mr. Raji Abiola; Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Idowu; and Mr. Adedokun himself.
After deliberations and reviewing its findings, the committee recommended the chairman’s reinstatement, which was unanimously adopted by the House.
The Assembly, therefore, directed the Acting Chairman and Vice Chairman to return to their previous positions as Vice Chairman and Leader of the Council, respectively.
Mr. Adedokun had been suspended in March 2025 following the receipt of the petition calling for an investigation into his leadership.
