The Oyo State Government has commenced the distribution of subsidised food commodities to workers across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The initiative, coordinated through the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS), is aimed at easing the economic burden on workers during the festive period.

The Chairman of ACCOS, Akeugberu Akeugbagold, disclosed this during the unveiling of the distribution exercise held at the corporation’s premises in Ibadan.

According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, Akeugbagold, represented by the Coordinating Head of the corporation, Mr Tunde Oladejo, said more than ₦120 million was spent on procuring the food items.

He explained that the programme forms part of the welfare initiatives of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde aimed at improving the wellbeing of workers in the state.

The subsidised commodities include rice, Kings vegetable oil and rams, which are being sold to interested workers at reduced prices. Akeugbagold further stated that beneficiaries would repay the cost through deductions spread over three months beginning from their July 2026 salaries.

He noted that the initiative reflects the commitment of the state government to workers’ welfare and food accessibility, particularly during festive periods.

He also urged beneficiaries to continue supporting the policies and programmes of the present administration, assuring them of more people-oriented initiatives.
