Oyo collaborates with UN-Habitat to enhance urban development

By Adejayan Gbenga –
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced a new collaboration with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) to advance urban regeneration and sustainable city planning in the state.
The announcement followed a meeting in Nairobi between Governor Makinde and Anacláudia Marinheiro Centeno Rossbach, UN-Habitat’s Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director, where both parties explored areas of cooperation.
Governor Makinde described the partnership as a crucial step toward transforming Oyo State’s urban landscape and ensuring sustainable growth for its residents.
UN-Habitat will support Oyo State’s recently established New Towns and Cities Development Authority (NTCDA) by providing expertise in policy development and implementation focused on sustainable urbanization.
The collaboration also aims to integrate urban development projects with the state’s agribusiness initiatives, fostering a balanced approach to economic and infrastructural growth.
