Oyo College of Nursing holds 27th convocation ceremony

The Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Eleyele, Ibadan, on Tuesday held its 27th convocation ceremony, conferring certificates on 469 graduating students.
The event, which took place within the college premises, marked the successful completion of academic programs in Basic Nursing, Basic Midwifery, Community Nursing, and Community Midwifery.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Commissioner for Health and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, described the graduation as a significant milestone in the academic and professional journey of the new nurses. She noted that the graduates had been trained at one of the most reputable colleges of nursing and midwifery and were now part of a noble profession.

Also addressing the graduates, Ayaba Abiwumi Olajumoke Owoade, wife of the Alaafin of Oyo and an alumna of the college, urged them to be agents of change. She encouraged them to set the pace, break barriers, and seek innovative solutions in an ever-evolving world.
Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu, commended the college’s management for upholding standards and sustaining the vision of its founding fathers. He also praised Governor Seyi Makinde for promptly addressing the institution’s needs.
In her address, the Provost, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, expressed appreciation to the parents and investors for their support and confidence in the college.
Of the 469 graduates, 31 were recognized as best graduating students, while three others received the Provost’s Awards for Best Behaved Student, Best in Practical, and Best in Nutrition.
Adetunji Shukurat, a graduate of Basic Nursing and the overall best graduating student, delivered the valedictory speech.
