Oyo first lady celebrates Ibadan’s New Year babies with gifts, cash

The First Lady of Oyo State, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, has marked the beginning of the new year by celebrating the first babies born in Ibadan, the state capital, presenting gifts and cash to the newborns and their families.
Mrs Makinde, who was represented by the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, visited three state-owned health facilities in Ibadan as part of the annual New Year outreach.
The hospitals visited included Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, Adaramagbo Primary Health Care Centre, and General Hospital, Moniya, where the first lady’s delegation met with the newborns and their mothers.

Describing childbirth as a priceless gift from God, Mrs Makinde expressed gratitude for the safe delivery of the babies and congratulated the new mothers on the arrival of their children.
She urged the mothers to prioritise their children’s health by ensuring exclusive breastfeeding, complete immunisation, and regular postnatal check-ups.
The first baby, a boy, was delivered by Mrs Bilikisu Lamidi at 12:01 a.m. at Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, weighing 3.6 kilograms, while the second baby, a girl, was born to Mrs Olajire Rihanat at 12:46 a.m. at Adaramagbo Primary Health Care Centre, weighing 3.1 kilograms.
The third baby, also a boy, was delivered by Mrs Musa Ummukhairi at 4:50 a.m. at the General Hospital, Moniya, with a birth weight of 3 kilograms.
Mrs Makinde presented baby-care hampers and cash gifts to the nursing mothers, with the first, second, and third mothers receiving ₦300,000, ₦250,000, and ₦200,000 respectively. She also donated food items during a visit to Oni Memorial Children’s Hospital, while the families expressed appreciation for the gesture and support.
