The Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters has directed the immediate coronation of three recently elevated high chiefs of Ibadanland, including Senator Sarafadeen Alli, to uphold tradition and ease rising political tensions.

In a letter dated March 26, 2026, addressed to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Commissioner Ademola Ojo stressed the urgency of presenting the chiefs with their beaded crowns.

The concerned chiefs include Akeem Bolaji Adewoyin, Sarafadeen Abindin Alli, and Kola Babalola. The ministry said their promotion within the Olubadan-in-Council necessitates their coronation under Ibadan’s traditional practices.

The ceremony has been scheduled for April 3, 2026, at Mapo Hall.

Authorities warned that any delay could lead to speculation of political interference, potentially weakening public confidence in the traditional institution.

The directive also aims to update the official list of high chiefs and Baales entitled to wear beaded crowns across Ibadanland.
