The Oyo State Government has presented appointment letters to 116 newly recruited staff of the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Eleyele, Ibadan, as part of efforts to strengthen academic and administrative operations at the institution.
The state also confirmed the elevation of four principal officers—Registrar, Librarian, Bursar, and Director of Works—to substantive positions, reinforcing the leadership structure of the college.
The Provost, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, announced the development during a ceremony held on Thursday to mark the donation of new furniture by the college’s 1976–79 alumni set.
Dr. Owolabi explained that the newly hired staff cut across various categories including Legal Advisers, Senior Lecturers, Nurses, Administrative Officers, Store Officers, Computer Analysts, Technical Officers, Motor Drivers, Craftsmen, and Clerical Officers.
She commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his unwavering support for the college, noting that the fresh appointments and furniture donations are timely, especially as the student population continues to grow.
The Provost also revealed that the institution recently received full accreditation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for its core programmes, following a successful review in September and October 2024.
Seeking to improve efficiency, Dr. Owolabi disclosed that the college had introduced an online student clearance system aimed at easing administrative procedures and reducing physical queues.
Speaking on behalf of the alumni group, Elder Emmanuel Kunle Oladejo applauded the school’s progress and urged management to work toward achieving degree-awarding status. He also encouraged students to aim for academic excellence, inspired by the success of past graduates.
